Golden fields, grazing horses, and Cassie and Austin’s easy, nostalgic love — this Sonoma County, California engagement session felt like a scene straight out of an old western film. As a Sonoma County engagement and wedding photographer, I couldn’t have asked for a better setting: wide-open pastureland, warm evening light, and a couple who were completely at ease in front of the camera.

We started the session as the sun dropped low over the Sonoma County fields, letting that golden late-day light do most of the work.

A few curious horses wandered over throughout the shoot, turning what could have been a simple engagement session into something a little more memorable — and a lot more fun.

Cassie and Austin walked hand in hand through the tall grass as the horses grazed in the distance, giving us some of my favorite frames from the whole Sonoma County session.

As the light faded, we made our way back toward the farm buildings for a few final frames — including a very good boy who insisted on joining in.

Sun-soaked and unhurried, this Sonoma County engagement session captured exactly the kind of love story Cassie and Austin are writing together.
