Crystal-blue water, granite peaks, and an intimate celebration among the pines — this summer wedding at Lake Tahoe was mountain romance at its finest. As a Sonoma County wedding photographer who loves traveling for destination celebrations, I couldn’t pass up a setting like this one, where the scenery does so much of the storytelling: rocky shoreline, towering pines, and the Sierra Nevada rising up across the water.

Guests gathered right on the rocky shoreline as the couple exchanged vows with the lake stretched out behind them — about as classic a Lake Tahoe wedding moment as it gets.

Afterward, we found a few quiet minutes for portraits along the water before the reception got started.

A short walk from the shoreline, a rustic stone-and-wood lodge set the scene for the rest of the evening.

As the sun dropped behind the mountains, the reception moved to tables tucked among the pines, strung with lights for a relaxed, intimate dinner.

From lakeside vows to golden-hour toasts under the pines, this Lake Tahoe wedding was every bit as unforgettable as the lake itself.
